Wheels and Waves is an exhilarating event that celebrates the perfect blend of two passions: surfing and custom motorcycles. Born in the picturesque coastal town of Biarritz, France, this annual gathering has become a must-go for motorcycle enthusiasts, surfers, and art aficionados from around the world.
Among the many renowned brands that participate in this festival, one name stands out as a true embodiment of the event's spirit: Lightning Bolt.
Our participation at Wheels and Waves represents a convergence of two passions—surfing and custom motorcycles—resulting in a remarkable celebration of art, culture, and adventure. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of those who seek the thrill of riding waves and the open road, while also recognizing the importance of preserving our natural environments.
During the Wheels and Waves event, we will bring our unique touch to the festivities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to witness firsthand the craftsmanship and attention to detail that our shapers invested in each of their signature surfboards, throughout the Pipeliner Collector Series Exhibition at the Artride.
And for those who want to know more about Lightning Bolt and seek to be inspired by the remarkable life and philosophy of our founder, a screening of “The Yin & Yang of Gerry Lopez” is in the agenda.
The collaboration between Wheels and Waves and Lightning Bolt represents a celebration of freedom, self-expression, and passion for a lifestyle. It is meant to be a trigger to inspire individuals to step outside their comfort zones, ride the waves, and chase the thrill of the ride.

Looking out onto the ocean, this is the soul of the festival, the ephemeral theatre of an amazing show. Encounters are made, innovations disclosed, an explosion of creativity within an astounding cultural mix, surrounded by a unique atmosphere of music, the sunset and the sound of engines…
In 2022, 23 000 people met there! Heart, headquarter... Whatever the name, the Village will once again be the heart of the event. It will be a place to encounter, to exchange ideas, to «chill out» where all the protagonists, exhibitors, partners, media and visitors will party in a unique atmosphere.
In 2023, the Village will be a place of celebration, of parties, with its prize-giving, its djset, the surf contest on the beach of Milady, the skate contest, its movies screenings and much more... A place and an «rendez-vous» not to be missed under any circumstances!

Eclectic exhibition by essence, ARTRIDE VIII will happen for a 3rd year at the Skatepark of Biarritz a stone’s throw from the Village. A timeless place, where artists from around the world will express their talent, from the world of photography, street art, surfing, skateboarding, custom, painting, sculpture, making the exhibition a unique and instagrammable hot-spot...

SURF CONTEST
« Back to the ocean, you’ll slide away » - Oasis
This is an event that will leave an indelible mark on your heart and ignite your passion for surf and skate.
At Wheels and Waves, classic longboarding is now performed by mixed teams: it’s the Duo Log Contest, an original format that was recently introduced in 2022.
Core discipline of Wheels and Waves, just like motorcycling, surf is performed in «classic» mode on boards of 9 feet minimum. At the foot of the Village on the Milady Beach, it will be animated by Damien Marly and for the second year by the Côte des Basques Surf Club. Several contests will take place throughout the 5 days of the event in a beachparty, sunset and fun atmosphere.
