Rory Russell, Lightning Bolt ambassador, iconic surfer and shaper is a living legend who accompanies the brand’s life since ever and has a huge legacy to share.
“Don‘t get into surfing for the money or the fame, you‘ll get into for the wrong reason.
You just get into surfing for the feel. I like riding waves because I like the way they feel. It‘s all about the feel, everybody wants to feel good”.
Known for his surf performance back in the ’70s and ‘80s, Rory won several world-class surf championships, including two Pipe masters. He has also made a name for himself as a worldwide iconic shaper, especially by shaping one of the most emblematic Lightning Bolt surfboards ever!
An informal conversation via video call – a recognition of a new reality imposed by the pandemic, but also a tool to connect worldwide – and the question “From baseball to Hawaii… How did it all begin?” were the starting point!
Respecting and recognizing the philosophy of collective construction, the celebration of the anniversary is a moment to celebrate the achievements and legacy of everyone who is part of Lightning Bolt’s history and life.
