CRAIG HOLLINGSWORTH’S LIGHTNING BOLT

50TH ANNIVERSARY SURFBOARD

Craig Hollingsworth has been shaping surfboards since 1973.

Born and raised in Southern California, Craig has traveled the world over perfecting his designs. With his long-time experience and hands-on-approach to testing surfboard performance, Hollingsworth is one of the most versatile shapers in the world.

“I try to make them go to the next level” Craig Hollingsworth

Craig takes 70’s inspired shapes and melds them with modern sentiment and style in the water. When questioned about the main difference between a Lightning Bolt and other surfboards, Craig has no doubts: “they are handmade, they are actually works of art”.

Thus, when celebrating our 50th anniversary, to invite Craig to create a commemorative board was as natural as it could be.

“I wanted to make something special for the 50th Anniversary of Lightning Bolt. I decided to shape a board that reminds us why Lightning Bolt means so much to us all as individuals. What really stands out to me are the Surfboards that Gerry, Rory, Jackie and the many other Great Surfers, both Hawaiian and International that Surfed Pipeline. Yes Pipeline!

Watching Gerry and the others dropping in at Big Pipeline on the Big Screens of the Movie Theaters, when I was a young Surfer. Pacific Vibrations, 5 Summer Stories and countless other Great Surf Films of 1970's.

I Shaped a 7'6" Vintage Pipeline Single Fin Gun to Honor Lightning Bolts 50 years in existence. Glassed with an Emerald Green resin tint, with a custom cut Shell Vaneer Lightning Bolt on the deck. This Lightning Bolt Surfboard shows the Beauty and Style that made Lightning Bolt what it is today.  A Pure Source! ⚡️” Craig Hollingsworth

This beautiful surfboard was displayed during the Lightning Bolt Festival (27 Nov – 5 Dec) in Tenerife, Canary Islands, and caught everyone’s attention!
